Fashionistas rejoice: if you worship at the altar of Valentino then you are about to be utterly blessed. One Aldwych is offering the very crave-worthy Very Valentino package which includes a stay at the sumptuous Covent Garden hotel, as well as tickets to the Valentino: Master of Couture exhibition at Somerset House – which is just a stone’s throw away.
London Fashion Week’s venue seems very appropriate for the Valentino showcase, which comprises over 130 Valentino designs in Master of Couture, spanning the decades and showing how his empire grew, with even the exhibition signage given a tailoring twist, using pins and other dressmaking essentials. Naturally there’s plenty of his signature deep red hue to be found, from the dresses to the chiffon-decorated staircase in the centre of the space.
You also get to strut along the catwalk as you view his creations sitting in the audience, adding a democratic twist that, like the film, gives you insider access to the designer’s world. Walking the hallowed halls and seeing pieces worn by Grace Kelly, Julia Roberts and Jackie Kennedy Onassis, it’s hard to tear yourself away from the spectacle and return to the hotel.
One Aldwych is in an ideal position for exploring London’s hotspots, with Covent Garden and Trafalgar Square just down the road and the arty South Bank just over the river; it certainly impresses in the style stakes too, with its own contemporary art collection – don’t miss the quirky Beano dog in the lobby. The Very Valentino package means that you get to enjoy One Aldwych’s luxurious surroundings with an overnight stay and breakfast, as well as use of the Health Club, which has some seriously tempting spa treatments available – race you to the Floral Ritual Massage. After all this pampering, you’ll definitely feel that bit closer to being a Valentino girl.
If you can’t spare the time to book an overnight stay, or you’re on more of a high street than couture budget, the Afternoon Tea option is the perfect compromise. Enjoy high tea with a fashionable twist, accompanied by a luscious Valentino Red cocktail made with Aperol and served with a side of caviar. Plus you also get a ticket to the exhibition included in the price. Whichever option you choose, there’s no excuse not to treat yourself this season and pay tribute to the master.
Very Valentino, including a night’s stay, breakfast, exhibition tickets and Health Club use, starts at £390 for two people, until Sunday 3rd March 2013. Valentino Afternoon Tea is available from £55 per person, also until Sunday 3rd March 2013.
