Think of bohemian style and there’s really only one fashion icon who truly encapsulates that hippy luxe spirit: Ms Talitha Getty. And the style appeal of the beautiful socialite and fashion muse lives on today – in fashion editor Kim Hersov’s spectacular womenswear label, Talitha.
With the aim of providing jetset sophisticates with ‘the ultimate holiday wardrobe,’ the brand’s debut collection launched in 2013. Frustrated with being unable to find the luxurious, bohemian-inspired pieces that she longed to wear on holiday, the ex-Vogue editor set about making her own. Co-founded with embroidery expert Shon Randhawa, the label’s exquisite embroidered blouses, fringed ponchos, embellished tops, silk jackets and lace dresses are all handmade in New Delhi.
Randhawa works with local craftsmen and artisans to create the collection, drawing on traditional craft techniques for authentic inspiration. The result is one truly desirable and super-luxe selection of holiday-perfect pieces. Hersov’s experienced editorial eye brings an attention to detail that makes these special pieces to wear now and treasure forever. While the intricate embroidery and embellishment add a luxe edge to kaftans and kimonos, there’s a relaxed nonchalance to the collection too – it’s all very easy and understated.
Perfect thrown on over a bikini after a long day at the beach or paired with a simple black dress and sandals, the cover-ups and jackets would work just as well smartened-up city-style with tailored trousers and heeled pumps. Sure they’re investment pieces – but forty years on from the original Talitha, it doesn’t look like the boho luxe spirit is going anywhere any time soon…
