Amanda’s passion for what she does is also a key element to Spiezia’s success, and 2008 saw her establish the Made for Life Foundation which helps support people with cancer and those who care for them. An inspiring organic beauty brand and an inspirational leader – when you read about Spiezia Organics, you wonder: why aren’t more companies like this?

Motivation for me is all about…

Absolute belief and passion about what you do and loving every moment – even the tougher times. This has been my mantra. We choose our attitude so we have a choice about how we approach each day. I love what we do as a business and I love what I do within the business. That is what keeps me motivated. It’s not complicated – it’s just about loving what you do!

Success means…

Happiness and contentment about having made a positive change. Money may be an important factor for many with all the trappings that it brings, but having worked with people with cancer I know that this is not what ‘floats my boat’. Success for this business is about commercial growth of course but it’s about achieving that in an ethical way whilst always giving something back.

I couldn’t have got there without…

My family, a few really good mates along with a fantastic team who work with me. I have been lucky to have had a whole load of love, support, constructive criticism and hugs. My husband Geoff has been an absolute star and complete rock through all sorts of ups and downs. He has helped within the business, helped me look after my two girls and helped keep me grounded. My sister, Kate has also been a constant for me and we are very close. I know she always will give me the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth!

I always start my day with…

A smile, followed by a cup of green tea and a smoothie whilst my Daily Radiance Facial Cleansing Balm is on. It may not be a great look initially but afterwards, I glow! I have even been known to even go for a walk or run across the nearby fields with this on. It melts away all the impurities and clears my head too.

When I don’t feel inspired I…

This is rare but… Going for a walk around the Cornish coast with my husband Geoff and our two dogs always helps. Being close to nature, with a person who I love in a beautiful part of the country always inspires me. Dogs are the guardians of being. They live in the moment and they make me smile as they dash around in a state of constant excitement and happiness.

The landscape for women in business today looks like…

An off-road marathon. You need to be agile and have strength and stamina to be successful, and maybe have a great running buddy too! The good news is that there are some amazing women out there who are really inspiring and I also like the fact that there is a lot of support from other women in business. I have had some great mentoring from fantastic women including Neal’s Yard’s founder, Romy Fraser; Jo Fairley, the founder Of Green & Black’s and Emma Sinclair – a fantastic entrepreneur and real powerhouse.

The trait I most deplore in others is…

Dishonesty. Our company values are founded on honesty; sound ethics; respect; passion, innovation and support. They have been our bedrock and we have honest conversations every day. So, I am really not good at dealing with people who don’t tell the truth or pretend to be something they aren’t.

I’d like to be remembered for…

Having championed skincare that is truly organic and how it links inextricably with wellbeing and also for having made a positive change to people living with cancer through the charity I founded – the Made for Life Foundation. I hope that the our Cancer Touch Therapy™ course which introduces accredited and insured training for spas and therapists to be able to throw their doors wide open to all grows and revolutionizes the spa industry.

What makes me happiest is…

When I have both my beautiful daughters with me and we spend time together. I love simple things in life like bodyboarding with friends on Perranporth Beach, enjoying the waves and being a child, then watching the sunset with a chilled glass of wine – that is is my idea of happy.

Can I run in heels?

If I had to I could… but given that there is not a huge demand for high heels in Cornwall I have kind of given them up apart from for special occasions! I can run in flip-flops which is also an amazing feat (excuse the pun!)
