Sleek, understated minimalism with a modern, feminine edge; there’s a lot to like about Raey – the new private label from luxury fashion retailer Matches. Forget embellishment, florals or OTT prints, this is style for the woman who understands the importance of ‘forever’ pieces – timeless classics to wear and wear again.
The key to Raey is simplicity: beautifully-cut separates, dresses and outerwear, made in luxurious, high quality fabrics. Clean lines reign supreme here – from the precise lines of a sculptured crepe dress to the boxy look of an oversized coat. The colour palette is primarily contemporary and neutral, with pale pastel accents – navy, white and black are underscored with fresh tones of pretty sugar pink and primrose yellow.
Our favourites? Luxe lounging fans won’t be able resist the weekendy cashmere sweatpants and sweatshirt. Worn with a crepe cami or tee and a suede biker, you pretty much can’t go wrong. Add heels or dress down with minimal trainers et voila. There are some rather lovely boxy coats too and a couple of wonderfully effortless jackets. And Raey’s really cleverly versatile – there’s no need to divide things into wardrobes for work and play.
The pricing? This is high end rather than high street – what we might call affordable luxury. Designed in-house by creative director Rachael Proud (previously at Christopher Kane), the collection fits in perfectly with Matches existing array of luxury fashion. Wear with insouciance – it’s easy, effortless and reminds us that fashion is meant to be about enjoying clothes after all!
