Who is she?
After studying fashion design at Nottingham Trent University and New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology, Florence Bridge graduated in 2012 with a first class degree. Following stints at Matthew Williamson and Erdem gaining experience in pattern cutting, embellishment, and production, Bridge set up her eponymous label in 2013.
Sexy, modern and just a little edgy. The Florence Bridge girl channels a distinctly rock’n’roll vibe with thigh-skimming hemlines, oversized lambswool collars and metallic fabrics – it’s a collection that a certain Ms Moss would wear with aplomb. However, there’s a delicacy and sophistication to the label’s aesthetic too; if you thought you didn’t need another LBD, you were wrong – this lace-trimmed black slip dress is simply indispensable.
The painterly digital prints bring a fresh, contemporary feel to silk shirt dresses and skirts, and a sense of luxury underscores the entire collection. Silk-covered buttons, pleat details and oversized trims betray Bridge’s sensitivity and attention to detail, and add a finish that makes every piece seem extra-special. All aspects of the production takes place in the UK – from fabric printing and manufacturing to garment finition.
Jewellery designer and It-Girl Amber Atherton is a big fan, even name-checking the label in a feature for Harper’s Bazaar.
