Parties and celebration call for fizz – one simply can’t toast to an occasion without Champagne, or failing that, prosecco. It just wouldn’t be the done thing. Who could possibly toast an important occasion with a G&T or pint of lager? Well then. Our favourite pretty party cocktail with a little extra pizazz? A chic celebratory fizz with a subtle hint of rose and a fresh hit of raspberry.
However, when hosting a party, one simply doesn’t want to be spending time endlessly mixing up cocktails for guests – you’d miss all the fun of the fiesta then! A simple, elegant cocktail is called for, and fizz with a hint of rose and raspberry fits the bill to perfection. For a truly festive finish, top with edible gold leaf – which really does look rather impressive, and adds that extra special touch.
Of course, some people may disagree entirely with ice cubes in Champagne, but when they’re rose-accented ice cubes, that’s quite a different affair. We’ve made these with rose petal ice cubes (instructions here) as they’re extra pretty, but you can use regular ice cubes, or even try some with different flower petals (tutorial) if you like.
Champagne or prosecco
Rose petal ice cubes
Edible gold leaf
Layer the rose petal ice cubes into Champagne flutes with fresh raspberries. Add a dash of rose water, plus a good slug of Chambord, and then top up with Champagne or prosecco – taste and add further rose water if needed. Finish with a few more raspberries and then a finish flourish – a leaf of edible gold leaf for that extra special touch.
