We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again… Beauty trends aren’t going to make you richer, smarter, happier or change your life in any very meaningful way. But they are a very good reason (excuse?) to buy a new product or two, re-inspire your make-up routine and perhaps have a little fun with beauty. So what’s the deal for Spring/Summer 2015? The hottest trends that will force you to sprint out and splash out the latest must-haves forcing you to eat toast for the next month? Here we go…

New Things With Skin

Natural, minimal, bare-faced – yet again, no make-up make-up is what they’re all wearing. Of course, this means anything but going foundation-free. Don’t be fooled! Even if you’re a catwalk model, supernaturally glowy, radiantly healthy skin requires a little effort.

Choose a lightweight foundation to even out your complexion, without masking your natural glow – we love Kiko’s innovative, colour-perfecting CC Cream Cushion System which covers imperfections while feeling featherligh. Dot concealer onto any blemishes, then follow with an illuminating highlighter to give a soft radiance to features; the subtly pearlescent Mosaic Highlighter from Kiko ensures a flawless, luminous finish.

New Things With Eyes

Steady your hand and perhaps skip the coffee – this season, it’s all about bold graphic flicks and slick fine lines. Whether you opt for ladylike liner or a rock chick-style swoosh, the only way is liquid – be sure to keep things precise for a sexy, modern look.

Our favourite liners to accentuate your eyes and get that perfect finish? Eyeko’s pen-format Skinny Liquid Eyeliner is easy-to-use and super precise while Rimmel’s Exaggerate Liquid Eyeliner is long-lasting and packed with inky black pigment. Spending a little more? Splash out on Shu Uemura’s iconic waterproof Painting Liner – its worth the splurge.

New Things With Lips

Yep, the red lip seems to be the most is-it-or-isn’t-it-in beauty trend ever. Well we have news for you. This season it’s IN! Yes, you can sport red lipstick safe in the knowledge that you’re on trend. Phew!  Traditional red shades get a twist this season – choose tomato, geranium or berry tones for a more modern look. And keep things fresh and summery by pairing your bold lip with minimal eye make-up – perhaps a smudge of bronze shadow or a slick of liquid liner.

We’re big fans of Laura Mercier’s ultra-moisturising, long-lasting Creme Lip Colour in Maya or Belize. Apply with your fingertips for a softer finish that doesn’t look too ‘done’. You could also a try a Lip Marker – our go-to products are the ones from Rimmel or Kiko which are both incredibly long-wearing. When it comes to berry shades, Barry M’s Absolute Burgundy is a steal at the price and NARS’ Vera is deliciously plummy. Invest in Tom Ford’s Cherry or Plum Lush for a bit of a treat.

New Things With Hair

The lowest maintenance hairstyle out there? Hurrah! If you can’t be bothered to do anything with your hair, we have some good news for you – you’re very much ON TREND for this season.  Slothful styling aside, there’s an elegant simplicity to the low ponytail – whether you’re pulling hair back off your face for a slick look or going for something altogether more bedheady…

Of course, the foundation of all good hair starts with how you wash, condition and dry. Mane’N’Tail’s Shampoo and Conditioner have cult status for a good reason – say hello to healthy, glossy tresses. GHD’s groundbreaking Aura Hairdryer not only dries in double-quick time, it also leaves hair smooth, shiny and full of natural volume. Follow with a lightweight styling product – we like Percy & Reed’s Wonder Balm or Leonor Greyl’s Éclat Naturel. Pull into your pony of choice et voila!
